Many gamers already assumed that the next chapter in Drake’s adventure would happen on the PS4 - though there are those who probably wish they didn’t have to shell out more money for a new console to continue the story.
In a recent interview, Uncharted 3 Director Justin Richmond explained that a lot of work went into making Uncharted one of the best-looking games on the PS3. He also states that in order to push the envelope any further, they would have to wait for Sony’s next console - the PS3 just won’t be able to handle it.
Anyone who has played an Uncharted game knows just how hard Naughty Dog works to bring a quality gaming experience to the masses. The developers focus on delivering an action-packed narrative in one game, rather than episodic DLC content. A lot of the optimization happened under the hood for the game, and while the leap from the first game to the second was large, the jump from Uncharted 2 to 3 was significantly smaller. Richmond continues on to say:
If Naughty Dog came close to hitting the limits of the PS3 with Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, just imagine what they’ll do once the PS4 launches.
Fans may be disappointed that Uncharted 3 won’t be getting campaign DLC, but this is something they’re used to since none of the games has ever had single-player DLC. Instead, the developers placed their efforts into new multiplayer (be sure to read our multiplayer impressions).
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is the must-have PS3 exclusive of the year and if the first print review of the game is any indication, then gamers will have one heck of an experience once it launches next month.
