Unfortunately the real bummer is that the footage is narrated in German and features German subtitles — preventing any new details from being anything but gleaned. There aren’t any instances, besides the weather effect, that look too distinct from previous Uncharted maps, but it’s definitely worth checking out.
I don’t know if it’s because the footage is filmed off a television, or it’s been so long since I’ve seen some Uncharted 3 footage, but this multiplayer gameplay looks pretty stunning. The textures on the crumbled walls and players are particularly impressive.
But most impressive about the footage is this multiplayer maps’ use of dynamic weather effects to create a new level of experience for the players. Once the sandstorm begins to roll in, all hell breaks loose in the match, with players being unable to see their enemies amidst all the dirt and debris. We’ve also see one other multiplayer map, set on an airplane runway, that incorporates some dynamic events, but this one fits in perfectly with the new settings of Uncharted 3.

There’s still a lot more of the Uncharted 3 multiplayer to be revealed before the game’s release, including a complete map list and a full rundown of the perk trees, but so far, what we’ve seen looks pretty enticing. If Naughty Dog can take similar concepts like the dynamic sandstorm and the runway shootout and implement them in all of the multiplayer maps, they may just have the definitive multiplayer PS3 shooter Sony is looking for.
What do you think of this Uncharted 3 multiplayer footage? Do you think the dynamic sandstorm is an interesting addition or too much of a distraction?
