Entitled Uncharted: The Fourth Labyrinth and written by Christopher Golden (Hellboy, Body of Evidence series, and Ghosts of Albion series) will have Drake traveling the globe once more in search of history’s greatest mysteries. The official Del Rey synopsis follows:
A Del Rey spokesperson also went on to say the book wouldn’t necessarily impact the continuity of the Uncharted world and isn’t, “necessarily a prequel or a sequel.” Meaning Chloe and Elena might not be making an appearance in this particular adventure.
There is also an Uncharted film in the works right now with director David O. Russell at the helm with nerd hero Nathan Fillion contending for the role.
Novels based on videogames have always been around with books based on Gears of War, Halo, and even Diablo. It’s not surprising to see an author take on a franchise like Uncharted that would be suitable in any medium. I’ve read a few videogame novels and have been pleasantly surprised. Here’s hoping that the written word will be enough to convey the awesomeness of Nathan Drake.
Uncharted: The Fourth Labyrinth releases in Fall of 2011.
