With its middling graphics, lack of features and reused assets, players of the orc-fighting franchise were underwhelmed. Grommash Hellscream and Thrall returned as promised, but the finished product wasn’t what fans were expecting. Players have been spamming reddit with memes and criticism, with one user recently discovering Blizzard is allegedly offering instant refunds for the controversial title. According to u/krOnicLTD on the game’s official subreddit, dissatisfied customers can get an instant refund by filling out the proper form here.
Others on the subreddit took this as an admission of the game’s failure and quickly flooded the source thread with similar refund success stories. “Tried this last night, works like a charm,” wrote one user. “Would never have refunded if it wasn’t that easy and automated,” wrote another.
In response to the negative feedback thrown Blizzard’s way, Community Manager Kaivax released an official statement on the Warcraft forums. “We want to say we’re sorry to those of you who didn’t have the experience you wanted, and we’d like to share our plans for what’s coming next,” Kaivax wrote in the thread. The log-in issues that plagued the game during its first few hours have been resolved, and players should have no problem getting into the game at the time of publish.
On top of that, patches and updates will be coming to Warcraft 3 in an attempt to iron out some of the other errors players have encountered. The Classic mode bug that made the world of Azeroth look like a psychedelic nightmare should be getting resolved soon, and Blizzard has committed to “fixing some portrait animations and audio bugs, implementing some UI fixes, and more.”
In the coming weeks, an announcement regarding leaderboards and clans will also be made. For now, though, competitive players don’t have the proper outlet to show off their skills until Blizzard properly tests the PvP backend. Tournaments and the Reign of Chaos rule set will not be making a return.
“We know this update doesn’t address all questions, but we’re committed to the development and support of this game,” Kaivax writes at the end of the post. “We appreciate all your feedback and will continue to keep the Warcraft 3 community updated on everything we’re working on.”
